Client Name: Veronika K.
Service Details: Business client, on-site consult, on-site support, remote support, remote consult
Problem and Request: Client is an executive assistant that needed help with keeping her boss’s personal and business affairs organized, secured, and easy to use. The status quo of using a mix of personal Gmail and iCloud accounts was difficult to work with, fragmented, and insecure.
Google Apps for Executive Assistant and Boss
Solution and Result: We started with a consultation to examine the organization’s workflow and identify pain points and areas of improvement. Since the client was already familiar with Gmail, we suggested a gradual move to Google Apps for Work on a custom domain, with proper user access controls and no more sharing of personal Gmail and iCloud passwords (which was a big security risk).
What is Google Apps?
Google Apps is a suite of cloud computing, productivity and collaboration tools, software and products developed by Google, first launched on August 28, 2006 as Google Apps for Your Domain.
Conclusion
Now the executive assistant, the head producer, and the boss can all collaborate in real time from any device using secure shared documents, contacts, calendar events, and even unified chat and voice using Google Hangouts. Learning curve was relatively easy because everybody already knew how to use Gmail. Sensitive data is now managed on Google’s secure cloud platform, eliminating the need to manage local backups and allowing the client to move away from redundant apps like Dropbox and Slack in favor of the unified Google platform.
We also helped set up a password management system, recommended a new inexpensive ISP and router install for WiFi calling at new property with a weak cell signal, installed a fast document scanner for importing screenplays and scripts, and helped implement a new personal inventory management system using Google Drive.
